The King Cheetah is a color mutation of the Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), which is found in southern Africa.

It was discovered in 1926. At that time it was thought to be another species of Cheetah but it was actually a color mutation. Later this was acknowledged and was changed.

The King Cheetah has a fur coat covered with splotches of black spots instead of the ordinary cheetah's spotted fur coat. This the key difference between the two.

There are only 30 individual King Cheetahs left in the world and so are extremely rare.
